Working With Fonts
Interstate signs have been slowly switching to a new Clearview font over the last 15 years. The typeface is designed to be more legible from a further distance to avoid last minute lane changes and so forth.
Designing signage for a new business or existing business has a creates a ton of questions. Font being a one of the key components. Should you choose a timeless font, is there such thing, should it be the same as the logo, or the most legible font?
Both are correct. Your main goal should be to reflect what your business is and the atmosphere. Some businesses do fine with no signage at all. Will your customers benefit from being able to find your business from 100 feet away or 10? Each situation is unique and should be handled as such. Just because someone else is doing something one way, doesn’t mean that it’s right for you. Trust your designer.
